The placement call -- lucky #3

Lisa:  Will we strike out or get a home run?  Edna called us this time with a possible placement.  Or should I say PLACEMENTS!

There were two brothers, 2 and 3-years old, that were removed from a domestic abusive and violent home.  The older siblings were being moved as well and will go with another foster family.  The plan is the same, to reunify the boys back to their family as long as the parents clean up their act and can support the kids, or if a distant family member comes forward to take the boys.

My first reaction was negative, thinking the violence would have scarred the boys and they would in turn attack my dogs, and that the emotional abuse would deem extra services we had to provide.  But for some reason I thought the situation would be perfect if we could keep them.  They should still be young enough to guide on the right path and are what Aaron always wanted -- sons to play with.

Aaron and I called several friends and families who had experience with child care and being parents to two boys close in age.  All thought (we were crazy but) we could handle after dealing with a developmentally delayed child with millions of service appointments.  We only had one negative feedback that had nothing to do with our parenting or the brothers.  So Aaron, Cookie and I got our schedules and heads together and knocked out a child care plan that could possibly work.  Of course we had challenges to consider -- Aaron's going out of state for training AGAIN and during a busy work week of planning for me, as well as the start of the fall semester with lots of training to do.  Both Aaron and I got our boss' approval and voila!, we accepted the placement!!

Oh we have to start cleaning now...
